An-Nu‘mān ibn Bashīr (radi Allahu ‘anhu) shared a profound hadith that ought to echo in the depths of our hearts. The Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhi was sallam) painted a vivid picture of believers as a single body, interconnected by unity, compassion, and empathy. It’s a hadith that cuts through the noise:
“The believers, in their mutual love, compassion, and sympathy are like a single body; if one of its organs suffers, the whole body will respond to it with sleeplessness and fever.”
(Sahih Muslim)
This hadith couldn’t be more fitting as we witness the heart-wrenching pain endured by our brothers and sisters in Palestine. This is an issue close the heart of the whole Muslim Ummah; it’s a global cry that reverberates from Morocco to Indonesia and beyond. Why? Because we share the same Aqeedah and way of life, forming a single body, interconnected and interdependent.
“The Believers are but a single Brotherhood”
(Surah Al-Hujurat; 49:10)
But let’s dig deeper. This hadith isn’t just about recognising the pain; it’s about how we react to it. It’s about the entire body uniting when one part is in agony. So, brothers and sisters, the question that should weigh on our souls is this: Do we want to keep enduring this pain as an Ummah? Or have we grown so accustomed to suffering that we’ve accepted our fate as the world’s punching bag?
One of the primary sources of the ongoing suffering for the Ummah is the presence of external elements that have infiltrated and weakened our collective body. I’m talking about the corrupt and treacherous rulers, cunningly placed by colonial powers, acting as a disease within our system. It’s high time we cleansed ourselves from these foreign influences, these rulers and regimes that don’t belong to our body.
Take a hard look at what’s unfolding in Gaza, and you’ll see the ugly truth. These puppet rulers are far from innocent bystanders; they’re active accomplices in the crimes committed by the Zionist settler occupying entity. Whether it’s Jordan aiding the flow of U.S. arms to the oppressors, Egypt proposing in utter betrayal to displace the Palestinians of Gaza to the Negev so that “Israel” could eliminate the resistance, or powerful nations like Turkey merely shouting hyperbole. Their inaction is a verdict of complicity in the atrocities.
So, the takeaway from this, is that while it’s reassuring to see Muslims across the globe sharing the pain of their brothers and sisters in Palestine, our response must be strategic and resolute. Without addressing the root cause and eradicating the cancer that has been artificially implanted in the Ummah by the West, namely these treacherous regimes, the issues we currently face will persist and most likely worsen. Meaning the likelihood of more painful events like this one in the future.
Let’s turn to Allah Almighty, who is Al-Muhaymin (The Preserver of Safety), and make du’a that He protects and grants safety to our brothers and sisters in Palestine. And let’s turn to Allah, who is Al-Mu’eed (The Restorer, The Reinstater), to give us the strength to strive and persevere on the path to liberation, and ultimately, to prove ourselves worthy of His victory. Ameen.
